18mm – 8mm X 1m Tapered Carbon Boom

This 100 cm long lightweight carbon fiber boom tapers from 18.0 mm diameter to 7.7 mm diameter, with a wall thickness of 0.3 mm. It is made from high modulus carbon fiber wound onto a tapered form, encased in an epoxy matrix, and cured at high temperature. This high quality carbon boom (hollow tapered tube) is extremely rigid and strong, yet only weighs 22 g.

If cut down to less than the 90 cm limit for a legal UK Royal Mail postal tube this item will be sent by first class post, or Airmail post for overseas orders. If left full length it will be sent by courier, increasing the delivery cost.

This boom is ideal for lightweight low drag tail booms, especially for discus launched gliders (DLG), small electric, F3-RES and FF models.

Suitable for use with our Blaster V mounts. Note the weight is for the full 1m length. When cut down to a shorter length suitable for a DLG the boom weighs about 15g. The Blaster V mount sits approx 77 cm from the wide end, so it is okay to order the boom with the narrow end cut, you don’t need it full length.

If the boom is cut down to 88 cm long, with the narrow end cut, the diameter at the narrow end is approx 9.2 mm.
